BSP leader K Armstrong was brutally attacked and killed by six unidentified assailants near his home in Perambur, Chennai, on Friday evening.

K Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, was ambushed by a six-member gang on motorcycles. The attackers struck the BSP leader near his residence in Perambur, inflicting severe injuries.

After the attack, the assailants quickly fled the scene. Armstrong, a former Chennai Corporation councillor, was being rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries en route, according to police reports from news agency PTI.

Authorities have initiated a manhunt to locate and apprehend the suspects.

Footage has emerged online showing the scene outside the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in Chennai, where Armstrong’s body was taken.

Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his grief over the incident and extended his condolences to the family of the slain leader. On ‘X’, the Chief Minister wrote, “The assassination of Bahujan Samaj Party State President Mr. Armstrong is shocking and deeply saddening. The police apprehended those involved in the murder overnight.”

He added, “I extend my deepest condolences to Armstrong’s party members, family, relatives, and friends. I have instructed the police officers to expedite the investigation and ensure the culprits are brought to justice according to the law.”

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai Offers Condolences and Criticizes CM Stalin

BJP Tamil Nadu President K Annamalai shared his condolences on X to Armstrong’s family. He expressed shock at the brutal murder of Armstrong, the state leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, and offered heartfelt condolences to Armstrong’s family and BSP supporters. Annamalai criticized the DMK government, stating that violence has become common in Tamil Nadu under their rule and questioned CM MK Stalin’s ability to lead.

Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami also extended condolences to BSP chief Mayawati and Armstrong’s family. He expressed deep sorrow over Armstrong’s murder by unidentified assailants in Perambur, Chennai. Palaniswami criticized the DMK government, questioning the law and order situation and condemning CM MK Stalin for the state’s deteriorating safety. He urged Stalin to arrest those responsible for Armstrong’s murder and ensure that his funeral proceeds peacefully.
